Hozameen Design Studio (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates hozameendesign.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data. We are based in Bellingham, Washington, and our services are offered to US residents only.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us:
- Order information: Name, shipping address, email address, and order details when you make a purchase.
- Payment information: Payment is processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number, CVV, or payment credentials. Stripe handles all payment data under their own Privacy Policy.
- Contact messages: Name, email, and message content when you use our contact form.
- Newsletter subscription: Email address if you subscribe to our mailing list.
We also collect limited technical data automatically: IP address (for rate limiting and security) and basic page visit analytics via Umami Analytics (see below).
How We Use Your Information
- To fulfill and ship your orders
- To send order confirmation and shipping notification emails
- To respond to your contact form messages
- To send occasional product updates if you subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- To prevent fraud and abuse via rate limiting
- To improve our website and product offerings
Third-Party Services
Stripe (Payment Processing)
Checkout is handled by Stripe Embedded Checkout. Stripe processes your payment and stores your payment method data under PCI DSS compliance. We receive only the information needed to fulfill your order (name, email, shipping address, order total). Stripe may set cookies ( __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid) for fraud prevention. Amazon Web Services (Email Delivery)
We use AWS Simple Email Service (SES) to send transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping notifications) and newsletter emails. Your email address is transmitted to AWS for delivery purposes only. See AWS Privacy Notice.
Umami Analytics
We use Umami Analytics for website traffic analysis. Umami is privacy-focused and cookieless — it does not track you across sites, does not collect personal data, and does not store IP addresses. No cookie consent banner is required. See Umami’s Privacy Policy.
Cookies & Local Storage
Your shopping cart is stored on our server using an anonymous session cookie (hozo_cart_session, HTTP-only, 30-day expiry). No account or personal information is associated with your cart until you check out. We do not use advertising cookies. The following cookies may be set by our site or third-party services:
- Shopping cart (
hozo_cart_session) — an anonymous, HTTP-only session cookie that links your browser to your server-side cart. Expires after 30 days of inactivity. - Stripe (
__stripe_mid,__stripe_sid) — strictly necessary for fraud prevention during checkout. - Admin session — a session cookie set only for site management access.
Data Retention
- Order data: Retained for 7 years to comply with IRS tax and accounting requirements.
- Contact form messages: Retained for up to 1 year, then deleted.
- Newsletter subscribers: Retained until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics data: Umami retains aggregate traffic data for up to 2 years. No personal data is stored.
Children’s Privacy
Our website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. To make a request, email us at adam@hozameendesign.com. We will respond within 30 days. You may also unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of our website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
